Velma Wythena James

Velma Wythena (Carter) James, 77, Known to many as "Ms. Tillie" of Duncan passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 in the Duncan Regional Hospital. Services will be 11:00 Am Saturday in the 1st. Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Graham officiating. Interment will follow in the Henderson Harris Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5 - 7 on Friday. Velma was born December 20, 1943 at Duncan, Oklahoma the daughter of Marshal and Lenetta (Derrick) Carter. She graduated from the Duncan High School. She was a homemaker, faithful member of the Word of Life Church of God In Christ, loved cooking, baking and drinking coffee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Darren James, daughter Dessirree Williams and great granddaughter Camila James. Survivors include her son Clay (Tanja) James of Duncan, Oklahoma; her brother Carl (Jean) Carter of Grand Prairie,TX; six grandchildren, Corey (Angelica) James of Duncan; Wyndford Williams, Jr., Seth Williams and Delaina Williams of Richmond,CA; Erin Jackson of Dallas,TX and Allana Jackson of San Antonio,TX; two great grandchildren; Cameron and Luna James of Duncan,OK Online condolences may be made at www.bailespolk.com
