Stephen Rutz

Stephen Jeffery Rutz, born in Oklahoma City, OK on July 30, 1988 passed away on Sunday, January 2025. He was son to Phillip and Mary Rutz.

Stephen graduated from Okeene High School in 2007. He served in the Army from 2010 to 2018. He will be forever loved and missed by his family. His greatest pride was in being a father to his five children, Xzander, Harmony, Memory, Slade and Malia Rutz. His humor and spirit could make anyone laugh, a trait he passed on to his children, nieces and nephews. A lesson in quick wit came with every conversation. Stephen always knew the best way to make things better was through laughter.

Stephen is survived by his parents, Phillip and Mary Rutz, children Harmony, Memory, Slade and Malia Rutz. His sister Linda Rutz, brother Phillip Rutz II and sister-in-law Shannon, and sister Tiffany Tapp and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his son Xzander Rutz and his brother-in-law Carl 'Buddy' Tapp.

A military funeral and committal service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Elgin, OK 73538. A celebration of life reception will follow at 1705 NW 20th St. Lawton, OK if anyone would like to pay respects to the family and share memories of Stephen.
