Bailes-Polk Funeral Home 910 West Oak Duncan, Ok 73533 (580) 255-5252 Stephen Romine, 60, of Ringling, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in the Oklahoma Veterans Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in the Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. The procession to the cemetery will be led by the Patriot Guard Riders and will depart from the Bailes-Polk Velma Chapel at 1:00 PM. Military honors will be rendered by the Stephens County Combined Honors Team. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Stephen was born July 31, 1949 at Duncan, Oklahoma the son of Udell and Lillian Hopkins Romine. He served in the United States Army from August 2, 1967 to July 24, 1970. He attended the Velma Alma High School. He served during the Vietnam Conflict receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. He and Esther Ruth Savage were married in 1970 and had one son. He and Susan Riggle were married September 5, 1972 at Gainesville, Texas and had three children. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2005. He worked as an oil field truck driver until his retirement. He loved fishing, rooster fighting and spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother Lillian Romine-Roskam of Velma; one son Stephen Russell "Rusty" Romine of Trout Run, Pennsylvania ; three daughters Sammie Kay Cunningham of Ringling, Misty Dawn Ficklin of Healdton and Staff Sgt. Stephanie Jo Cassidy of Ft. Riley, Kansas; a brother Larry Romine of San Antonio, Texas; six sisters Brenda Romine of Keaau, Hawaii, Joanne Romine, Cathy Little and Janet Roberts all of Velma, Freda Elliott of Minneola, Texas and Mary Beth Hall of San Angelo, Texas; seven grandchildren; Trent Cunningham, Blake Cunningham, Traven Cunningham, Samantha Haymes, Brittany Moiser, Amber Ficklin and Vance Cassidy; two great grandchildren Katelynn Bunch and Mathew Haymes, a special friend Dora Sellers of Marietta, Oklahoma, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
