Shirley Ann Taliaferro, 81, of Duncan passed away peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 20, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in the Immanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Robbins officiating. Interment will be at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 Pm on Friday. Shirley was born May 30, 1935 in Hastings, Oklahoma the daughter of Chas and Clara Belle (Slaughter) Masoner. She and Kenneth Taliaferro were married in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 3, 1951. She began working in the bookkeeping department in 1955 for Oklahoma National Bank and was promoted to Assistant Cashier in 1977 before retiring in 1986. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and she truly loved her church. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Her family always came first in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J.C. and Larry Masoner, three sisters, Joyce Gover, Wanda Battles and Cliffogene Patterson and three infant grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott and Kevin Taliaferro. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Taliaferro, of the home in Duncan; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Gayle Taliaferro, of Duncan; daughter and son-in-law, Kena and Michael Ward, of Duncan; sister, Carolyn Norwood, of Tulsa; brothers-in-law, George Battles of Duncan and Ebert Patterson of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Craig Taliaferro and his wife Kara of Thornton, Colorado, Michael Taliaferro and his wife Jamie of Moore, Oklahoma, Matthew Jennings and his wife Laura of Marlow, Oklahoma, and Kayleigh Jennings and her wife Kirsten of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; great grandchildren Devon Taliaferro, Drew Taliaferro, Daxton Taliaferro, Avery Taliaferro, Kinley Taliaferro, Jaxon Jennings and Aubrey Jennings. Pallbearers will be Craig Taliaferro, Michael Taliaferro, Matthew Jennings, Bobby King, Terry Crissman In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church or the Southwest Oklahoma Cancer Center.
