Ruby Vowell

Ruby Westbrook Dowdy Vowell, 104, a longtime Velma resident passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in the Marlow Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday in the Alma Cemetery with Ladd Polk officiating. Service are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Ruby was born on December 11, 1919 in Alma, Oklahoma to Walter L. and Betty (Cockrell) Westbrook. She was raised in Alma where she graduated from the Alma High School in 1940. She married Albert Dowdy on April 9, 1948 and they made their home in Velma. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1979. She later married R.D. Vowell and he preceded her on February 23, 1996. She love animals and had many pets over the years. She also enjoyed flowers, reading, music and her quite time. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Walton Westbrook.
