Peggy Laruth Niehoff

September 10, 1933 — June 20, 2020

Peggy LaRuth Niehoff , 86, of Duncan OK passed away peacefully Saturday, June 20, 2020 at her home.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2020 in the Parkview Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Southerland officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Peggy was born September 10, 1933 in Duncan, Oklahoma the daughter of Henry Cleveland H. . and Earle (Fulton) Byford . She graduated from the Comanche High School. She and George John Niehoff were married in Durant, Oklahoma on June 1st, 1955. Peggy worked as a sales clerk and retired as a cosmetologist from Duncan Drug/Walgreens .

Peggy was known for her ease (and definite talent) to serve as the group leader of any type of gathering - family, friends, or volunteers. She served in many capacities with the Oklahoma Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star and served on the board of the Foreman Prairie House of Duncan. She was a faithful and active member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Duncan, lending a hand in all activities involving every age group of the congregation - especially when it came time to prepare a meal for a gathering. And as anyone in the greater Duncan area knows, once you met Peggy and you both got to know each other, you weren't just a friend...you instantly became a brother, sister, son or daughter, or grandchild and that type of relationship would continue for decades!

She was preceded in death by her husband George, seven siblings - Leo Cleveland Byford ; Audrey Lorene Richardson; Henry Dorman Byford ; Elmer Preston Byford ; Melba Jean McGuire; Cleo Junior Byford ; Eddie Von Darrell Byford ; grandson Christopher Lee Milford, and step daughter Sharon Verity.

Survivors include brother Earl Dee Byford (Sheena ) of Duncan, sister Pearlie Claudine Branch (James) of Oklahoma City, daughter Patty Flynn (Patrick) of Leland NC, grandson Matthew Milford (Julio) of Gladstone, MO, and stepsons George of Rantoul IL, and Paul (Shirley) of Midwest City OK, and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or other ways of honoring Peggy's incredibly genuine friendship and love with you, it is suggested a donation be made to the stillbirth and early infant loss assistance foundation "1st Breath" of which Peggy served as a founding board member in honor of her grandson who was stillborn. Donations may be made online at 1stBreath.Org (Donate & Help tab), or mailed to 4 Sherwood Park in Duncan. An additional suggestion would be the McAlester Scottish Rite C & E Foundation online at Mcalesterscottishrite.org/foundation.html.
