Peggy Dolores Ellis

Peggy Dolores Ellis, 74, of Duncan passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at her home east of Duncan. Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, September 24, 2012 in the Ray of Hope Church with Reverend Tracy Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Comanche under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Peggy was born May 12, 1938 at Duncan, Oklahoma the daughter of Hoyt and Lucille (Pickett) Whittington. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1955. She and Edward Chandler Ellis were married at Duncan, Oklahoma on November 8, 1957and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2001. Peggy worked for Combs Moody Moore Insurance, KHME Radio Station, and Oklahoma National Bank. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, traveling and cooking. She volunteered with the Duncan Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the AARP income tax service. She was also preceded in death by her father and a brother Perry Dale Whittington. Survivors include her mother Lucille Whittington of Connecticut; her daughter Cherrie Bennett and her husband Billy of Duncan; her grandson Clayton Bennett and his wife Megan of Stillwater; two sisters Deann Pierce of Florida and Pamela McDaniel of Connecticut as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
