Melvin Kenneth Pitts, 86, of Comanche passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the Praise Assembly of God Church with Reverend Wade Peyton officiating. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Comanche under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born February 14, 1930 near Geronimo, Oklahoma the son Willy Ozell "W.O. and Sarah Ethel (Barton) Pitts. He attended the Deer Creek, Graham, Oak College, Woolsey and Comanche Schools. He and Cleda Riddles were married December 21, 1951 at Comanche, Oklahoma. He worked for the Branch Lumber Company in Comanche and Kendrick and King Lumber Company in Comanche and Duncan, Comanche Heating and Cooling and as a carpenter for many years. For many years he and Cleda rented houses in the Comanche area. He served in the United States Army During the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wylie Pitts and a sister Lena Scott.
Survivors include his wife Cleda of the home in Comanche; son Melvin Ray Pitts of Comanche; three brothers Verdell Pitts and David Pitts both of Duncan and Emzla Pitts of Comanche; three sisters Dorothy Whitfield and Janice Walker of Loco and Francine Anderlohr of Comanche as well as numerous nieces nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Bob Pitts, Bo Walker, David Pitts, Jr., Brent Anderlohr, Ryan Pitts and Jared Pitts. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bill Harley.
