Maudie O. Nelson, 100, our sweet precious mother went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the Ashbrook Assisted Living Center.
Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday in the Velma Church Of Christ with Ron Stough officiating. Interment will follow in the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation from 5-6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and from 8 AM to service time at the Velma Church of Christ.
Maudie was born June 18, 1917 at Stringtown, Oklahoma the daughter of Columbus “Lum” Miller and Minnie Belle Seal Miller. She attended the Alma Schools. She and James Walter Nelson were married at Duncan, Oklahoma on January 11, 1935and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2009. Maudie was the owner of Velma Fabric Store, a Drive In Theater, Drive In Restaurant and a trucking company. She was a faithful member of the Velma Church Christ, her home was always open and she welcome many visiting preachers, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, working in her flower garden and cooking. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jim Miller and Pete Miller, sister Rose Weaver and her granddaughter Kristy Anderson.
Survivors include her son Bob Nelson and his wife Judy of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Barbara Sue Anderson of Duncan her granddaughter Dawn Angela Nelson of Wichita, Kansas.
