Margaret Geraldine Wood, 92, passed away on Sunday, May 24th, 2020 in Moore, Oklahoma after a long illness.
She was born December 13, 1927 in Nebo, Oklahoma the daughter of James and Mary Strange. She and Craven Leonard Wood were married on September 10, 1948 at the Henrietta, Texas courthouse, because she said that's where most couples in Duncan would go to be married. They had the weekend off and went back to work on Monday. Craven preceded her in death in 1983.
Growing up she would milk cows and pick cotton where the family was farming. She experienced the Dust Bowl and remembered "sand came through the walls of the house. You could lick your lips and taste dirt. Sand was in your hair, clothes and food." As a young woman she was employed at Southwestern Bell as a Telephone operator and left after marrying to raise her beginning family. She was a caring and loving wife and mother. She made sure that her children knew Jesus, taking them and participating in church, Sunday school and Vacation Bible schools along side them. She was a lovely woman of great strength and faith.
She is survived by her two daughters and two sons and their spouses; John and Phyllis Wolf of Arlington, Texas, James and Susan Morris of Moore, Oklahoma, John Quinton and Julie Wood of McKinny, Texas, Gary and Rhonda Wood of Norman, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
