Lydia Leona (Wood) Smith, 87, of Velma went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at her home in Velma. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held 2:00 PM Friday in the New Velma Cemetery with Reverend Cody Deavers and Reverend Randy Southland officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday in the Bailes-Polk Velma Chapel. The youngest of twelve children Lydia was born April 1, 1923 near Velma, Oklahoma the daughter of John Adam and L.B. (Padgett) Wood. She was a life long resident of the Velma area. She and O.D. (Dee) Smith were married at Velma, Oklahoma on March 9, 1940 and preceded her in death on May 14, 1996.They raised four daughters. Lydia was an avid quilter, loved spending time with her friends and family, loved to read and work word search puzzles and fish. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include four daughters Ora Faye Morgan and husband Pat, of Comanche; Joyce Davis and husband Bill,of Duncan; Deanna Burton and husband Don, of Velma and Darlene Foster and husband Charles, of Velma; a brother Stanley "Babe" Wood of Duncan; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many neices and nephews. Pallbearers will be Norman Condit, Mike Smith, Shane Jones, Charles Foster, Rocky Allred and Mike Pollock. Online condolences may be made at www.bailespolk.com
