Lesley Meril Mccalister

Lesley Meril McCalister, 92, of Duncan a former longtime Velma resident passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the Duncan Regional Hospital.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in the Velma Church of Christ. Interment will be in the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7 PM on Friday at the Velma Church of Christ.

Meril was born January 11, 1925 the son of Charlie William and Maude (Walser) McCalister. He and Vivian Marie Foster were married at Wichita Falls, Texas on January 16, 1945 and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2002. He worked in the oil field as a roustabout and pusher, enjoyed wood working and was a member of the Velma Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Survivors include his sons Charlie McCalister and wife Kathy of Velma and Ronnie Meril McCalister of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughters Barbara White and husband Edger of Grand Prairie, Texas, Linda Stewart husband Joe of Velma and Freda Elliott and husband Ray of Midleothian, Texas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
