March 10, 1948 — December 9, 2024

Larry Stanton Lankford, age 76, passed away at his home in Duncan, Oklahoma on Monday, December 9, 2024, after a hard fought battle with the rare, incurable Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). He was the son of L.S. and Wanda Lankford of the Altus, Blair, Oklahoma area. He and his wife, Judy, had been married for 55 wonderful years.

He was a proud graduate of the Blair High School Class of 1966 and always remembered the school and his classmates.

After graduating from Altus Junior College, Larry attended the School of Radiologic Technology at OU Health Sciences Center where he graduated, then worked in healthcare as a registered X-Ray Technologist for almost 50 years, working in various places, but primarily at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. His last position prior to retirement was at Reynolds Army Community Hospital at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He made friends everywhere he worked and is remembered by many as caring and dedicated to his career field.

Larry was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Duncan where he was active in various capacities. He loved the church and his church family.

Larry was also an avid OU fan. He loved anything OU, from football, baseball and basketball to gymnastics. If it was an OU team, he was watching it!

He is also survived by his sister, Bonita Palmore and husband Larry of Altus, and his brother Arnold Lankford and wife Donna, also of Altus. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry's family would like to thank the staff at the Duncan Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma for going above and beyond with regard to his care, and also the Chisholm Trail Hospice staff for their kindness and outstanding care.
