Larry Joe Hays, 70, a former longtime Duncan resident passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday in the New Hope Baptist Church West with Reverend Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery at Comanche under this direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Military Honors will be conferred by the Stephens County Honor Team with procession escorted by the Patriot Guard.

The Family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 5-7 on Thursday.

Larry was born January 2, 1948 at Duncan, Oklahoma the son of Billy Jo and Imogean (Goss) Hays. He received his high School diploma from the Comanche High School. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He and Kathryn Vinson were married at Henrietta, Texas on June 20, 1974. he enjoyed fishing, traveling, collecting antiques, repairing old clocks and refinishing old clocks. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed writing poetry and had several poems published. He would find a way to help someone in need. He had a way of making people laugh. At VA appointments, the clerk would tell him: "Be with you in a second" and he would quickly reply "Okay, time's up". He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church West.

Survivors include his wife Kathryn Hays of the home; his son Billy Dale Hays and daughter Patty Gene Hays of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City; his brother Jimmy Davidson of Duncan and teo Grandchildren Essence Shell of Duncan and Avin Crosby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Billy Hays, Brent Willhite, Kasey Moody, Mark Goodman, Jimmy Davidson and Billy Crosby.
