Karen Sue Monroe

December 21, 1954 — May 25, 2019

Karen Sue (Shelton) Monroe, 64, joined our Heavenly Father on Saturday May 25, 2019. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 30, 2019, at 2:00pm at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Although no service will be held at the funeral home, we ask that all attending the graveside service will join us at Bailes Polk Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma, at 12:30pm for the procession to the cemetery.

Karen was born in Nocona, Texas, to Harold Joe and Sue Ann Shelton on December 21, 1954. She was their only child. She grew up and lived almost all of her life in Duncan, Oklahoma.

She met her beloved husband of 45 years, Calvin Monroe, after graduating from high school in June of 1973. Once realizing they were meant to be with each other forever, they wed on August 15, 1973. In 1977, their family grew as Karen gave birth to a beautiful little baby girl named Julie.

Karen lead a wonderful and adventurous life with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, going to concerts, cooking, camping at the lake, and watching movies at the drive-in.

Although, her family is devastated from losing such a beautiful and kind soul, they are thankful she is no longer in pain.

Karen is survived by her husband Calvin Monroe of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter Julie and husband John Anderson of Comanche, Oklahoma; granddaughter Essance Whiteside of Duncan, Oklahoma; granddaughter Aryanah Anderson of Comanche, Oklahoma; and grandsons Hickory, Rebel, and Cannon Anderson all of Comanche, Oklahoma.

Karen is preceded in death by her father Harold Joe Shelton and mother Sue Ann Shelton.

Our sweet Meme will always hold a place in our hearts and be forever loved. Rest easy our precious Darling, for we cannot wait to see you again.

Pallbearers will be Dale Jennings, John Anderson, Russell Gary, Chris Gary, Toby McKinnon, Corey Dale Six, Dan Six and Darren Shelton.
