John Dee Parton

December 24, 1931 — January 14, 2019

John Dee Parton was born December 24, 1931 at Stecker, Oklahoma (near Apache) the 9th of 12 children of Lattie Dee and Adah (Taylor) Parton. His parents were farmers and all of the family did farm work while growing up. He passe away Monday, January 14, 2019 at the age of 87

He graduated from Ninnekah High School in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving from 1951-1955, serving one year in Korea. He worked as a mechanic for American Airlines for many years.

He lived on a small farm in the Cleveland, Oklahoma area for 55 years, and three years ago he moved to Marlow, Oklahoma to live closer to his niece Nova Parton. he was a wordsmith and enjoyed playing the game Upwards with anyone who would come by and kept three unabridged dictionaries close by to verify words unfamiliar to those who challenged him to a game. He had recently moved to the Lawton-Ft. Sill Veterans Center due to health issues. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucille Doan, Louise McElroy, Jewell Hyatt, Mary Shillinglaw and Ruthe Bifulco and brothers Ted, Paul, Russell, Webster and Lindy Post Parton.

He is survived by one sister, Nell Parton Ryan of California and a host of nieces and nephews.

At his request , no funeral services will be held. Services have been entrusted to the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
