James Harvey "Jim" Dacus, 75 of Duncan passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jim was born July 30, 1939 at Cyril, Oklahoma the son of Louie and Lois (Cannon) Dacus. He and Sandra Leonard were married at San Antonio, Texas on December 28, 1984. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he served with the first dog tracker teams. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Services Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Scouter with Troop 417 in Duncan, loved reading especially westerns, was a life time member of the Duncan VFW Post 1192 and the Moose Lodge 2202. He was preceded in death by his parents a brother and a granddaughter. Survivors include his wife Sandra of the Home in Duncan; a son Roy Dacus of California; three daughters Susan Hughes of Duncan, Lois Taylor of Ridgecrest, California and Diana Dacus of California; five grandchildren Annette Ploss, Sean Hughes, Colleen Bruce, Dianna Taylor and Jessica Taylor as well as three sisters, other grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends.
