Gene' Marie Hopkins

d. May 25, 2022

On, April 11, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma, a baby girl was born to Ardnell and Eugene Davis, and was named Gene' Marie. She was the 3rd child of four children.

Growing up in Duncan, Gene' Marie attended Douglass Grade School and Duncan High School. She later attended truck-driving school and obtained her Commercial Driver's License "CDL". Gene' loved her Duncan Community. She was a member of Duncan Old School Association "Forever Friends Forever Family". Gene' continued the legacy of the Easter Celebration with the annual Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, Cake and Ice Cream hosted at Douglass school.

On May 13, 1967 she married Harold Wayne Oneal. To this union was born three children, Harold Jr, Chelcia and Makisha. Gene' was a hardworking and dedicated mother. She worked in the oilfield at Texaco, Ratliff City for 14 years.

Gene accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She began her ministry at Bethany Baptist Church. She later joined Zoe Baptist Church, Pastor Melvin Sanders.

Later, Gene' relocated to Dallas, TX to live near her oldest sister. In Dallas, she joined the Potter's House where she volunteered and worked faithfully in a number of ministries: Professional Ministry Technician (PMT), Bishop's Choir, Potter's Touch, Woman Thou Art Loosed. Gene was ordained as an Elder by Bishop T.D. Jakes, Potter's House, Dallas, TX.

To know Gene' is to know that she was a Woman of God who loved God and helping her family and others. She had a caring personality and a Heart of Gold. Known by her smile and radiance when she entered a room she would always greet you with love and respect and you knew she was there. She was very loving, caring and a sharing person, who always reached out to others without expecting anything in return. In April 2013 Gene' moved to San Diego, California to live with her son Harold and his wife Christine.

On, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, the Lord called her home to be with Him at Paradise Valley Manor & Health Care Center, National City, CA. No longer plagued with sickness, doctors and medicine, God opened the gates of heaven and welcomed an angel into the kingdom.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ardnell Owens, her brother Jerry Polk, her sister Ardnell (Pee Wee) Davis, her sister Mary Helen (Abbie) Beecham, and great granddaughter Tianna O'Neal.

She leaves to cherish her warm and loving memories, her children: Harold Wayne O'Neal Jr (Christine) of Ramona, CA; Chelcia Brown of Dallas, TX and Makisha Anne O'Neal of El Paso, TX; and her most beloved nephew, Ernest "Fats" Wiley (Elaine) of Dallas, TX.
