Evelyn "Sally" Shattuck, 89, of Duncan, went to be with her family in Heaven on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Evelyn was born June 4, 1921 in Catharine, New York, the daughter of Robert Webster and Addie (Buchanan) Webster. She moved to Colorado at a young age and made that her home. She always enjoyed the beauty of the mountains. She was the owner and operator of a very successful hair salon in the Denver area for 30 years. Evelyn was also a very talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren and friends. She was an avid quilter and loved crocheting. Her many quilts and afghans are still being enjoyed by everyone she gave them to. She volunteered her time at the senior center teaching craft classes. She also enjoyed working outdoors and took great pride in her beautiful gardens. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Louise Jaynes, of New York and her daughter in law, Nancy Shattuck, of Duncan; Five grandchildren: Lori Stephens and husband Jeff of Comanche, Vikki Williams and husband George Martin of Duncan, Daniel Shattuck and wife Sonja of Arvada, Co., Tim Kirkland and wife Lori of Denver, Co., and Tyson Kirkland of Denver, Co.; ten great-grandchildren: Nellie Murrah and husband Herschel of Duncan, Andrea Stephens and husband Jan-Erik Dreyer of Englewood, Co., Michael Stephens of Austin, Texas, Nick Williams and Bobby Martin of Duncan, Matt Rees, Jacob Shattuck, Amanda Shattuck, and Evan Shattuck of Arvada, Co; Two great-great grandchildren: Ryan and Brookelyn Murrah of Duncan, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her beloved children, Robert Shattuck and Gwen Kirkland; Grandsons, Bret Shattuck and Daniel Kirkland. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Gregstons Nursing Home and Autumn Light Hospice. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held in Colorado.
