Estelle Seely Foster, 89, of Duncan departed this life to her home in Heaven on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 in the Wilkins Nursing Center. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in the Duncan Cemetery with Reverend Steve Gillispie and Reverend Lynn Parkhurst officaiting. Interment is under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. She was born April 5, 1922 seven miles east of Duncan, OK, the eldest daughter of John and Mary Ruth (Starkey) Seely. Even though they were both born in Stephens County, she met her one and only sweetheart of 58 years, Virgil Foster, in Big Spring, Texas and married, in the parsonage of First Baptist Church, February 23rd, 1940. They returned to Stephens Co. and took up residence in Duncan on July 10, 1946. They were blessed with three sons, Virgil Keith, Ronnie Wayne & Guy Ernest. Virgil began working as a carpenter and Estelle was a homemaker until their youngest son was 8 years old. She entered the work force first as a sales clerk, but upon completion of LaJean"s Beauty School she opened a shop in her home so she would be at home more with her boys. Unable to complete High School as a teen, she attended Comanche High School and graduated with her youngest son in May, 1966. She continued her education by attending Great Plains Area Vo-Tech School of Practical Nursing where she graduated in March 1973. She worked at Duncan Medical Hospital and various area Nursing Homes. She always loved old people and gave them the best of care. In later years she worked private duty nursing and hospice care, finally ending her career as a private care-giver due to a heart attack at 80 years of age. Bypass surgery and multiple strokes could not get her down, but they did force her into assisted living. Since she had always been so busy, it was difficult for her to adjust to restricted living. She missed checking on her homebound friends. She was kind, considerate and very generous. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, crocheting, quilting, working in her flower beds and being with her family. She was a Christian and in earlier life she taught the junior age children in Sunday school and training union. She loved working in vacation Bible school. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Foster & wife, Mary of Comanche, Retired Army Lt. Colonel Guy Foster & wife, Susan of Enid, OK; three granddaughters, Rhonda Foster Ellington & husband Paul of Celina, TX, April Foster Nighswonger & husband Howard of Alva, OK, and Amanda Foster Rohrig & husband Chuck of San Antonio, TX; one grandson, Brian Foster of Columbia, MO; three great-grandsons, Ryan Ellington of Celina, TX, and Lewis & Henry Nighswonger of Alva, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Ruth Seely, her sister, Christine Seely Lamb, her brothers, John (Jack) Seely & Virgil (Pop) Seely, her daughter-in-law, Joetta Lester Foster, her eldest son, Virgil Keith (Sonny) Foster in a traffic accident on December 27, 1960, and her dear husband, Virgil Foster, by cancer on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1998.
