Eric Lynn Bumpas
August 12, 1960-June 14, 2022
Eric passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2022.
Corrie Ten Boom stated, "The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation." Eric lived to serve. If he was able to help, he would serve. His gracious heart was so big but was tired. He loved his daughter Cherokee more than words can say and loved his granddaughters Paisley and Parker even more.
His passions included his family, classic rock music, and the Minnesota Vikings. His favorite concert was going the Eagles with his baby brother Ben. He was a kid at heart. Eric loved to go to theme parks such as Six Flags, White Water, and Disney World. One of his favorite trips was to Hawaii with his sister Sharon. His laugh was contagious. He loved to go camping and fishing all the time. If there was an outdoor activity, he was there.
He graduated from Duncan High School in 1978. He spent many years working in the oilfield before working in the construction and painting industry. After retiring, he spent most of his time caring for his mother and his dogs. He was his momma's boy.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, James Bumpas; his grandmother, Lucille Bailey; and his great nephew, Jhonethyn Bumpas.
He is survived by his mother, Lavene Hlavaty (Duncan, Ok); his daughter, Cherokee (Duncan, Ok); and his granddaughters, Paisley and Parker (Duncan, Ok).
He is also survived by his three brothers and one sister. They are Sonny and wife Cassie Bumpas, Greg and Tara Bumpas, Sharon (Bumpas) and Ron Miller (Duncan, Ok), and Ben and Rhonda Hlavaty (Harrah, Ok). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews- Chris, Jeremy, Brandy, Josh, Blake, Lexi, Amber, Joey, Reece, Mitch, Zachary, Kyle, Katelyn, Weston, Hunter, Christen, Luc, Natosha, Shandi, Jessica, Rick, Kiana, and Cody.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailes-Polk Funeral Home of Duncan, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Duncan Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 PM on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to your favorite charitable organization.
