Elvin Smith

Elvin Smith, 81, of Duncan passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in the Comanche County Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in the Antioch Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Old Post Cemetery on Ft. Sill under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Elvin was born December 8, 1935 in Coushatta, Louisiana the son of Leroy Smith, Sr. and Harriet N Smith. He served in the United States Army and retired after 21 years. He and Marva (Lamey) Stevenson were married at Wichita Falls, Texas on September 2, 1994. He was a faithful member of the St. Stephens Missionary Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Tullous and a twin brother Melvin Smith.

Survivors include his wife Marva Smith of the home in Duncan; sons Elvin Smith and his wife Lorena of Lawton, Michael Smith of Shreveport, Louisiana, Carl Thomas of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Troy Stevenson and his wife Brenda of Arlington, Texas; daughters Brenda Battle and her husband Vernon of San Antonio, Texas, Sandra Smith of Temple, Oklahoma, Robin
Smith-Johnson and her husband James of Lawton, Catherine Johnson of Shreveport, Louisiana, Velva Pierce and her husband James of Lawton and Landra Stevenson of Duncan; brothers Leroy Smith Jr. and his wife Stella of Dobbin, Texas, James Smith and His wife Dollie of Shreveport, Louisiana,, Charles Smith of Coushatta, Louisiana; sisters Verdia Green and her husband Arthur Green of Oakland, California, Essie Williams of Coushatta, Louisiana, Carrie Thomas of Coushatta, Louisiana, Vera Gary and her husband Lou of Rialto, California and Coretta Williams and her husband John of Rialto, California; 30 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will serve as flower bearers.
