Earl Oscar Chappell

Earl Oscar Chappell, 94, of Duncan passed from this life Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in the Wilkins Nursing and Rehabilitation. Services will be 11 AM Saturday in the Elk Avenue Church of Christ with Robert Teagu officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Earl was born October 15, 1926 in LaQuire, Oklahoma the son of Thomas Henry and Frances Melvina (Watts) Chappell. He served in the United States Navy. He and Rosa Faye Bass were married in New Mexico on June 7, 1947, and she preceded him in death on December 28, 2013. He worked in construction most of his life and at the age of 80 he passed the test to drive as an escort for wind mills. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and spending time with his family. He attended the Elk Avenue Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by two daughters Melvina Leffew and Kay Earwood and nephew Matthew Rousey. Survivors include his sons Joel Chappell and Keith Chappell and wife Tina; daughters Sherry Jones and husband Bill, Zo Gray and husband Ken and Melisa Ann and husband Mike; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.
