Douglas Winston Jones, 68, of Duncan passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home in Duncan. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the West Side Christian Church in Duncan with Reverend Terry Schlein officiating. Douglas was born January 28, 1948 in Big Spring, Texas to Floyd "Jack" Ray and Robbye Louise (Jeter) Jones. He and Linda "Jeanie" Jean Dodson were married in Duncan, Oklahoma on August 28, 1976. He received a Bachelors Degree in History and Physical Education from Wayland Baptist University and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired as a Lt. Correctional Officer with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, where he served the State of Oklahoma as a Correctional Officer in three different facilities as well as serving as a Probation and Parole Officer in Duncan. Prior to working for the State, he worked at Halliburton in Duncan as a Cost Analyst and in the warehouse for 20 years. Before that, he served as a Police Officer in Comanche and Anadarko Oklahoma and Snyder Texas. In his earlier years, he was a Pastor at Fittstown Baptist Church in Oklahoma. He also taught history and coached football, basketball and track at Ira Independent Schools in Ira, Texas. He loved participating in living history demonstrations of the Mountain Man Fur Trade Era. He especially enjoyed teaching the public about the way of the Mountain Men, which included demonstrations for schools across Oklahoma and Texas, as well as the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton. He was a member of the American Mountain Men Association, Beaver Creek Free Trappers, and the West Side Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother-in-law Ed Roberts. Survivors include his wife Linda "Jeanie" Jean Jones of the home in Duncan; daughter Jana McQueary and her husband Tom of Big Spring, Texas; daughter Amanda Todd and her fianc" Damien Wooten of Lawton; son Todd Jones and his wife Megan of Duncan; mother Robbye Jones of Piedmont, Oklahoma; sister Gayle Roberts of Piedmont, Oklahoma; brother Don Jones of Lueders, Texas; brother David Wylie and his wife Ramona of Shannon, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law Judy and Gene Wildey of Murray, Kentucky, and Bobby and Sherry Dodson of Duncan; grandchildren Luke Todd, Feryn Pierce-Elwood, and Declan Jones as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends that he called his family. Cremation services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
