Donald Nisbett

Donald Ray Nisbett, 85, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed from this life January 1, 2025 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church 401 N. 1st St. in Duncan, Ok on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

Don was born June 21, 1939 in Duncan, Oklahoma, the son of Roy Joseph Nisbett, and Opal Crystal (Hurley) Sanders.

He graduated from the Duncan High School in 1958. He and Dianne Reid were married on August 5, 1961. In order to pursue a career in graphic art and advertising, Don moved his family to Chicago Illinois, in 1968. He worked n Chicago at Montgomery Wards as an advertising artist for many years, and did a lot of freelance jobs as well. In1978, Don decided to make a new start by returning to his roots in Duncan, Ok. He was the Art Director for Halliburton Energy Services, until retirement. He then worked as a security guard for several more years. Don attended Wesley United Methodist Church and loved Jesus with all of his heart. He was steadfast in his Christian faith and worked to be an example for all. He was a talented guitarist and loved to play for his family. He also loved golf, racquet ball, tournament chess, tennis, fly fishing, tying flies, and was a very talented artist, often working in the Native American genre. Don was loved by all who knew him. .

He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Cody Wayne Sanders, his nephew Aden Powell, sister-in-law, Susan Carol Reggin.

Survivors include: His wife of 66 years and love of his life, Dianne Elizabeth Nisbett, daughters Kimberly Elizabeth Nisbett, and Jennifer Raye James. Grandchildren: Joshua Cain Woods, Ashley Elizabeth Brewer, Madison Raye James, Michael Thomas James. Great grandchildren: Halie Dibrell Woods, Jacobi Elizabeth Brown, Phoenix Olivia Wright, and Lincoln Alexander Wright. Great great grand daughter Ember Rae Boyd. His sister Dianna Dee Ledbetter and her husband Ray Ledbetter, his brother Steven Dewayne Sanders and his wife Sharon Sanders. His sister-in-law, Cheryl Rennick and brother-in-law, Will Rennick. His nieces and nephews, Ken McAllister, Mandy McAllister, Amiee McDougal, Aaron Sanders, Lisa Anderson, Disa Newton, Jon Ledbetter, Joel Ledbetter and Cari Hajny, and numerous additional family and friends.

Flowers may be sent to the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
