Daniel Eugene Wilson left this world and arrived at his Heavenly home Tuesday, December 8, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones. Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. At the Velma Assembly of God church with Reverend Travis Stewart officiating. Due to Governor Stitt's recent Covid restrictions, seating at all indoor events will be limited to half capacity, therefore seating will be limited. There will also be a prayer service with the family Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Velma Assembly of God. Services will be under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Dan was born October 22, 1942 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Fred (Chic) and Virdean (Chapman) Wilson. He was a member of the graduating class of 1961 at Velma-Alma High School. He married Grace Stallons on June 29, 1962. He continued his education graduating from Cameron University in 1963 with an Associate's Degree in Electronics, and later graduating from Central State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He was employed by Halliburton Services and it's subsidiary Well-Tech for 22 years. During that time, he worked locally and internationally, working in Africa, the Middle East, and the middle of the ocean. He even worked with Red Adair several times, helping him decide the best way to extinguish well blowouts, and spent many hours riding in one of Mr. Adair's famous red Cadillacs. After leaving Halliburton, he returned to school to get his degree in education so he could begin his second career as an electronics instructor, and he taught at Canadian Valley Vo-Tech and Red River Vo-Tech schools for 20 years. Many of his students went on to win state and national honors in electronics competitions under his guidance. He would often run into former students and they would tell him what a great influence he had been on them, and thank him for all he had done for them. He was also a credited editor for text books used for teaching electronics in the state of Oklahoma. He retired from teaching in 2009. Dan enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed working in the garden, collecting guns, camping, hunting and fishing, which his family enjoyed, too. Especially his great-grandson, J.D. His favorite thing was simply spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Velma Assembly of God church and loved helping teach the boys Sunday School class. As he arrived in Heaven he was greeted by many family and loved ones already there, including his parents, Fred and Virdean Wilson, son-in-law, Kenneth Maxwell, and step-granddaughter Donna (Net) Maxwell. He is survived by his wife, Grace, of their home near Velma, daughter Angela Maxwell of Velma, daughter Brenda Coffia and husband Mike of Velma, granddaughter Danielle Wilson of Duncan, granddaughter Deena and husband Jordan Spencer, great-grandchildren J D and Alix Wilson of Velma, step-granddaughters Kim Hollock and Kristie Gardner of Velma, and Kenna Maxwell of Duncan. Dan was dearly loved by his family, friends and community and will be missed by so many. Memorial contributions can be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or the Velma Assembly of God Church.
