Daniel A. Bowen

Daniel A. Bowen, 92, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the Southwest Medical Center in Lawton. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the Duncan Cemetery with Reverend Chris Percival officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Daniel was born January 4, 1923 at Corum, Oklahoma the son of Daniel V. and Kathryn (Seal) Bowen. He and Alwanda Weldon were married at Duncan on January 16, 1943 and she preceded him in death on November 7, 1956. He later married Francile Milam at Wichita Falls, Texas and she preceded him in death on March 7, 1996. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 where he was active in the invasion at Normandy. He Retired from the Amerada Hess Oil Company as a Field Superintendent in 1986 and he later drove a school bus for the Wichita Falls School District because he loved the children. He enjoyed dancing, OU Football, photography, working in the flower garden and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law Peggy Bowen, three brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his son Lyle Bowen of Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters Linda Barton of Wichita Falls, Texas and Sheena Byford of Duncan, Oklahoma; a sister Doris Capps of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren Lisa Byford, Danny Byford, Kevin Barton, Kelly Barton and Keri Richardson as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
