Charles Fred Matthews

Charles Fred Matthews, 79, of Marlow passed away Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 in the South Point Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Services will be 2:00 Saturday in the Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow with Reverend Mike Bernhardt officiating. Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Charles was born January 5, 1941 at Francis, Oklahoma the son of Raymond and Oleta (Whiitngton) Matthews. He graduated from the Francis High School at Francis, Oklahoma. He and Lynn Howard were married at Midwest City, Oklahoma on November 9, 1974 and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2014. He retired from the Sooner Trailer Manufacturing as the Warranty Director. His hobbies included a love for fishing, wood working, NASCAR ,and working in the yard. He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pat Schaffer, daughter-in-law Connie Matthews, brother Claude Schoonover, sister Ethel Rae Woods, brother-in-law Jim McGill and sister-in-law Beverly Matthews.

Survivors include his sons Charles "Bub" Matthews and wife Jeanette of Ada, Oklahoma, Terry Matthews of Norman, Oklahoma, Tony Matthews and wife Carla of Ada, Oklahoma and Jimmy Poplin and wife Shelly of Central High, Oklahoma; daughters Melinda Matthews of Norman, Oklahoma and Sherry Shipman and husband Ronnie of Marlow; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers Jim Matthews and wife Jeanne of San Antonio, Texas and Don Matthews of Ada, Oklahoma; sister Mary Ann McGill of Davis, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Darlene Scoonover of Duncan, Oklahoma and brother-in-law Dale Woods of Francis, Oklahoma.
