Brad Middleton 1953-2016 Bradley Eugene Middleton"s life came to a close on Friday, April 1st at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City following a long illness. Brad was born January 16th, 1953 in Holdenville, OK to Dale and Jeanne Doup Middleton. Brad enjoyed a wonderful small-town upbringing which included the formation of lifelong friendships, sports, academics and outdoor life. Brad attended Diamond Elementary, Holdenville Jr. High and High School, graduating in the class of 1971. Brad entered the freshman class at the University of Oklahoma in 1971. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, sang in the Men"s Glee Club and worked at Varsity Book Store throughout college. Brad completed a BA in Social Work in 1975. One month following graduation he and Ann Shiffer married on August 23rd, 1975 in Ardmore, OK. At the time of his death, the couple had been married 40 years. The couple moved to Duncan, OK in November of 1975 and lived there for 37 years before moving to Oklahoma City. Brad pursued several occupations during his young professional life. He served for 16 years as a Family Support Specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. In 2006 he pursued a career in hospice/end of life social work, most recently for Faith Hospice. Brad is remembered for his gentle kindness, love of family and his unique gift of discretely helping others to live more positive and fulfilled lives. He was a skilled outdoorsman, an avid hunter and fisherman and a crack shot. His profound humility, sensitivity and concern for others was the hallmark of a life well lived. He is survived by his wife, Ann, his son Mark Middleton of Oklahoma City and his sisters, Lori Middleton of Holdenville and Mona Middleton of Moore as well as beloved cousins Richard Morgan, of Beloit, Wisconsin, Craig Dearing, Patty Matney, Mona Trice, Carolyn Wright, all of Edmond, OK. Brad is also survived by many cousins and extended family as well as wonderful co-workers and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sweet daughter, Mary Ann Middleton. A memorial service for Brad is scheduled at 1pm, Sunday May 1st at the University of Oklahoma Student Union Courtyard. In lieu of flowers Ann and Mark request monetary contributions on behalf of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the Oklahoma County Humane Society.
