Billy Slate

Billy Coy Slate, 70, of Duncan passed away October 19, 2023 in the Southwest Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Mike Davis officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Billy was born November 21, 1952, in Duncan, Oklahoma the son of James C. and Johnnye Rhea (Moore) Slate. He had a fierce love for his family and had a story for everything and a wealth of trivial knowledge. He worked as a pumper and roustabout in the oilfield for many years. When he was younger, he enjoyed riding horses and roping and in recent years he loved spending time with his family. He was a fan of OU Softball and Football. He never met a stranger and made a lasting impact on each person he met. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lynn Slate.

Survivors include his son Jess Slate and wife Tiffany of Duncan, Oklahoma; stepson John Robert Turner and wife Alicia of Austin, Texas; brother Dave Slate and wife Trena of Duncan, Oklahoma; sisters Betty Skiles and Karen Posey and husband Walter all of Duncan and grandson Jaxon Coy Slate.

Pallbearers will be Chad Rowe, Jason Benson, Bryson White, Micah Chisum, John Supron and Jamie Slate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Slate and Jay Lynn Slate.
