Armetha Richard

Armetha Richard was born on March 26, 1931 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Steve and Myrtle Buckner and departed this life Sunday, October 4th 2015 in the Norman Health Plex in Norman, Oklahoma. Services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Ronald Boyd officiating. Interment will be in the Henderson Harris Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday and prior to the service on Friday at the church. On July 19, 1951 she married Iry Benson in Oklahoma City, OK, they later moved to Duncan, Oklahoma. To this union, seven children were born. She attended Tatums High School and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She married Willie D Richard on September 20, 1976. To this union two children were born. Armetha was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the Junior Mission and president of the Mission Group. As an adult she was self employed. She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve Buckner and Myrtle Albert; her brothers, Roscoe Buckner, Roy Richardson; her two husbands, Iry Benson, Willie D Richard; and a grandson, Donald Taylor II. She leaves to cherish her memory a brother, Grover Buckner of OKC, OK; nine children, four daughter-in-laws and two son-in-laws: Iry and Trease Benson of Duncan, Ok; Lee and Sherry Benson of Fort Worth, TX; Deborah and Donald Taylor of Duncan, OK; Robert and Barbara Benson of Duncan, OK; Ginny and Charles Dixon of Parsons KS; Tresa Benson of Oklahoma City, OK; Dennis Benson, Oklahoma City, OK; Nanetta Richard of Hurst, TX; Melissa Richard of Independence, MO; and Donnita Benson of Oklahoma City, OK: 14 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
