Aaron K. Mitchell, 35, of Duncan passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in the Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday in the Ray of Hope Church with Darlene Bethany and Victor Kemp officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Ft. Sill National Veterans Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
Military honors will be conferred by the Stephens County Honors Team and procession to the cemetery will be escorted by the Patriot Guard.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 PM on Monday.
Aaron was born September 9, 1982 at Corsicana, Texas the son of Billy and Beth (Phillips) Mitchell. He graduated from the Ennis High School in Ennis, Texas 2001. He served in the United States Army from July 9, 2001 to February 4, 2009 and during this time he completed two tours in Iraq where he was part of the Military Police. He and Kaci Parish and were married in 2009 and to this union three wonderful sons were born. Later he and Shanna Winslett were married at Duncan, Oklahoma on November 21, 2015. Aaron received his Associates Degree in Police Science from the Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City and was working on his bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University at Oklahoma City. He worked for the Payne Springs Police Department, Caney City Police Department, and as jailer at Henderson County Sheriff Depart in Texas before coming to Oklahoma where he served on the Stephens County Sheriff Department, Rush Springs Police Department and was currently a member of the Lawton Public Schools Police Department. He loved wood working, fishing, watching tv, playing video games, bailing hay and working on the farm and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bill Phillips, paternal grandmother Helen Mitchell and his cousin Bradley Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife Shanna Mitchell of the home in Duncan; three sons Ethan, Bryce and Zachary Mitchell all of the home in Duncan; his parents Billy and Beth Mitchell of LaRue, Texas; paternal grandfather Bill Mitchell of Athens, Texas; Maternal grandmother Ruth Phillips of Corsicana, Texas; his aunt and uncle Janice and Jerry Ayers of Tyler, Texas and Brian and Christie Beaman of Corsicana, Texas; in laws Charles and Brenda Winslett, Kim and Kenny Gilley; brother-in-law Justin Winslett and his wife Bali and niece Kinzlee of Duncan; close friends Robert and Heather Jolley and Michael and Suzanne Moore; his canine family Bear and Callie Jo as well as other relatives and his brothers and sisters in Blue.
Pallbearers will be Robert Jolley, Michael Moore, Justin Winslett, Jacob Mackey, Jarrod Davis and Victor Kemp.
