It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Baxter, beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Walter was born on January 19, 1974, to James Paige and Beatrice Kepler in Duncan, Oklahoma. He passed away on August 4, 2024.
Walter is survived by his three children: Justin Chasteen (spouse Mercedes Hulslander), Tamara Chasteen(spouse Kyle Bennett), and Grant "Mudd" Nessel. He also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren. Gracie Bennett, Wyatt Chasteen, Carson Bennett, Hudson Bennett, Adelyn Chasteen, and Braxton Chasteen.
His brother Donald Baxter (spouse Sherry Baxter) and sister Tammy Bethards (spouse Rex Bethards)
Walter was a graduate of Duncan High School, class of 1992. He went on to work as a welder, where he made many lifelong friendships. He was known for his incredible work ethic and dedication to his craft.
Outside of work, Walter had many hobbies that brought him joy. He loved riding horses, fishing, camping, and flying his pigeons. But above all else, he cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Walter had a larger-than-life personality and was known for his infectious laugh and sense of humor. He had a way of making everyone around him laugh.His many friends from all over the USA will miss him dearly.
While we mourn the loss of Walter, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 11th at 4:00pm at the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Flowers or donations may be sent to 910 W Oak Ave, Duncan, OK 73533
