Thomas Henry "Red" Cox, Jr., 84, of Comanche passed away Friday, March 1st, 2019 in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was surrounded by family and friends singing him into heaven with his favorite song, “I’ve Got a Mansion Just Over the Hilltop”.

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the Bethesda Church of God with Reverend Harold Metheny officiating and Pastor Rick Duncan assisting. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Tom was born September 3, 1934 in Comanche, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas Henry Cox, Sr. and Marjorie Ellen (Williams) Cox. He and Ora Faye Smith were married at the Stephens County courthouse in Duncan, OK on August 30, 1957 and to this union three children were born. He later married Virginia Louise Wynn in Comanche, Oklahoma on November 3, 1984. He worked as a welder for Halliburton Energy Services for over 35 years and was a faithful member of the Bethesda Church of God. He enjoyed welding, riding horses, farming, music, dancing, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dewey Cox of Marlow and sisters Beverly Danek of Comanche and Lisa Brumley of Waggoner, two step-daughters Sue Rivera-Humak of California and Linda Wilburn of Velma.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Cox of the home in Comanche, Oklahoma; his son Arlan Wayne Cox and his wife Peggy of Crowder, Oklahoma; two daughters Vickie Gildon and husband David, of Comanche; and Angela Brown and husband Jeff of Yukon, Oklahoma; brother Charlie (Sherrie)Cox of Loveland, Colorado; two sisters Barbara Wilkerson and Carolyn (Don) Byerly of Duncan; step children Marcia Barnett and husband David of Velma; Floyd Terry and wife Karen of Arlington, Texas; Randy Terry and wife Pam of Amber, Oklahoma; and Sam Irwin of Texas; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie White, Buddy Willis, Raymond Bumpas, Donnie Scott, Bob Hicks and Rick Hodges.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Tilley, Earl Perkins, Frank Marcum, Bob Cox and Cecil Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
