She married the love of her life, James "Rod" Isham on February 9, 1967 at Gospel Beams Church in Duncan, OK. Rod was in the Air Force and was stationed on the island of Guam which was their home for the first couple of years. After returning to Duncan, Phyllis worked in various secretary positions. She and Rod adopted a baby girl, Kristen, in July 1973. Once Kristen started school, Phyllis worked as a medical office receptionist and transcriptionist for many years with various local physicians including Dr. Jack Gregston. Survivors include her daughter, Kristen and her "favorite son-in-law," Charles Webb; "favorite grandson," Jarod Webb; beloved sister, Marilyn and husband Benny Mayes; aunt Nelda Girod all of Duncan; uncle Royce and wife Gert Girod of Oklahoma City; and a host of beloved cousins. Phyllis is also survived by her "second family," the staff at Country Club Care Nursing and Rehab of Duncan. The nurses, assistants, and administrative team at Country Club not only provided her with care but also with love and she loved them. Also, a special thanks to Dr. William Stewart, Kim Holland, APRN, and the staff of DRH Chisholm Trail Hospice. Donations can be made to DRH Health Foundation.
