Mary Elizabeth Werner, 81, of Duncan passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her home in Duncan. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday in the Ft. Sill National Veterans Cemetery at Elgin, Oklahoma with Lyndal and Keith Werner officiating. Interment services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Mary was born March 19, 1932 at Broken Bow, Oklahoma the daughter of Virgil Warren and Mary Ellen (Reid) Foster. She and Bobby Joe Werner were married November 23, 1946 at Gainesville, Texas and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2010. She was a member of the Hope Community Church, Stephens County Home Extension, Rock Creek Oklahoma Home and Country Education, Sweet Tarts Red Hats, a Life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Life member of the Commemorative Air Force Oklahoma City Wing and member of the Military order of the Cotties Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, loved to embroidery, and her cookie and pies were her families delight. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, a daughter-in-law Debra Sue Werner and a great grandson Nicholas. Survivors include three sons Kenneth Werner of Corps Christy, Texas, Richard Werner and his wife Danna of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Kirk Werner of Altus, Oklahoma; her daughter Karen Annette McCown and her husband Rick of Duncan; 13 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
