Mahota Jameson

August 6, 1923 — February 6, 2015

Mahota Jameson, 91, a long time Duncan resident went to be with her Lord Friday, February 6, 2015 in the Heritage Place Nursing and Rehab in Decatur, Texas. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home Chapel With Reverend Terry Schlein officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Tuesday. Mahota was born August 6, 1923 at Walters, Oklahoma the daughter of Joseph L and Metta (Spurgin) Walker. She graduated from the Comanche High School in 1942. She and Joe Lee Jameson were married at Montague, Texas on September 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1998. She worked along side Joe at the Wide Awake Appliance Store until they retired. She came out of retirement working for several local retailers including the Ginger Jar Stage and Elegant Design. She love caring for others and volunteered with the Duncan Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was honored with Volunteer of the Year during her tenure. She was proud that she worked until she was 85 years of age. She attended the Immanuel Baptist Church for many years but later became a member of the West Side Christian Church. She love doing crafts, painting, making flowers, crocheting and walking. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Leotah Rue. Survivors include her four daughters Nekatah Hunt of Decatur, Texas, Sherry Hamner of Van Alstine, Texas, Sondra Jameson of Duncan, Oklahoma and Debbie McClanahan of Haslet, Texas; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Josh McClanahan, Corey Hunt, Albert Haws, Steve McClanahan. John Rue and Ken Barnett. Online condolences may be made at www.bailespolk.com
