Linda Alice Franks

July 31, 1946 — June 7, 2023

Linda Alice Franks, 76, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed from this life Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Branson, Missouri.

Services will be at Highland Park Baptist Church at 11am on Tuesday, June 13 with Reverend Brant O'Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 12.

Linda was born July 31, 1946, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Harley and Velma Evalena (Seida) Wiyninger. She grew up in the Comanche area and graduated from Comanche High School in 1964. Soon after, a New Mexican captured her heart, and she married James Robert Franks on September 30, 1966. They began building a beautiful life together which soon included raising three children. Linda happily spent many hours sitting in softball and baseball stands or basketball bleachers for the love of her family.

Linda gave her life to Jesus at a young age, and she never wavered in her strong faith even when facing the most difficult battles of her life including fighting a life-threatening cancer diagnosis in her forties or being separated by death from husband on January 7, 2007.

She faithfully served the Lord in her local church for years. Linda served in a variety of ways but most notably through teaching children in Sunday School or VBS and working as a cook at Falls Creek youth camp. She was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.

Linda worked for Halliburton Energy Services for many years before later working as secretary at Irving Pre-K and library assistant at Duncan Middle School. Her most important work was as a mother, grandmother, and more recently, great-grandmother. You could always count on Grandma, or "Otis" as she was affectionately named, to cook a batch of sausage balls for breakfast or to call to sing the entire "Happy Birthday" song on your birthday.

Linda enjoyed working on puzzles, reading, crocheting, and crafting. She always loved spending time with her family, including her brother, sister, and many cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Her legacy continues in those she left behind including her children Sherry Zawicki and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tim and wife Megan of Iowa Park, Texas, and Bobby and wife Brandi of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren Brittany (Zawicki) Madole and husband Hunter, Dylan Zawicki, Hannah, Noah, Lauryn, Makenna, Gracie, and Aly Franks; 2 great-grandchildren Gentry and Wyatt Madole; brother Mack Wiyninger of Dennison, Texas; and sister Joy Smith of Duncan, Oklahoma.
