Kenneth Dean Gauthun, 86, of Duncan passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 Duncan Regional Hospital. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the Freedom Biker Church with Reverend Billy Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral from 5-7 on Wednesday. Kenneth was born March 27, 1928 at Madison, South Dakota the son of Oscar and Christina (Olson) Gauthun. He retired from the United States Army where he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He and Ursula Eckardt were married May 5, 1953 at Fulda, Germany. He loved to talk with other Veterans in his capacity as the Chaplin of the VFW, loved to work in the garden but his greatest love was spending time with his family. He served as deacon in the City Heights Baptist Church and later joined the Freedom Biker Church where he loved the time he spent with the men in the Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Ursula of the home in Duncan; son Dieter Gauthun and his wife Cathy of Duncan; daughter Shirley Stinnett and her husband Mike of Duncan; grandchildren Rachel Wiseley and her husband Larry, Dean Gauthun and Kelly Gauthun; great grandchildren Kortney Brown, Boston Brown, Treasury Gauthun, Jacob Gauthun, Keegan Gauthun and Aribella Gauthun and a special family friend Tommy Anthony. In Lieu of flowers donations may be the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be Tommy Anthony, Duwayne Kaspereit, Kenneth Johnson, Jerry Wilson, Bob Mason and Jeff Meachum.
