Joyce Dean Goodwin, 68, of Duncan went peacefully to her Heavenly Home on Monday morning, January 8, 2018, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Services will be 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, in the Chapel of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home with Reverend Willie Virden officiating. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Joyce was born on January 21, 1949, in Bakersfield, California, to James Luther and Ida Mae (Stephens) Stewart. She graduated from Savannah High School in Savannah, Oklahoma, in 1967. She played basketball and ran track. She was also a cheerleader. Joyce married the love of her life, Larry Goodwin, on September 26, 1969, in McAlester, Oklahoma. They were married for 48 1/2 years. She worked at Ft. Sill for 26 years and 10 months. She retired as a civilian G5 Military Pay Technician in 2010. Her greatest joys were her husband, children, and grandchildren. She spent a lot of time taking her grandchildren special places and doing special activities. She was Nanny/MiMi to her grandchildren. Joyce's faith in Jesus Christ was evident to anyone who knew her. She also made sure to make contributions to churches and Christian organizations. She enjoyed reading her bible, watching OU football, traveling, camping, fishing, and any activity that involved family. She also enjoyed making the Christmas holiday special for the family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Stephen Stewart; a sister-in-law, Debra Stewart; and a special aunt, Edith Stephens. Survivors include her husband Larry Goodwin of the home in Duncan; three daughters, Melissa Hutto and husband Curtis, Janet Goodwin and fiance Sam Harris, and Leah Boyd and husband Derrell, all of Duncan; two sisters, Treva Brown and husband Jerry of Waco, Texas, and Renee Webb and husband Robert of Savannah, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Preston Converse, Anna Hutto, Jacob Hutto, and Josh Hutto; Trevor Goodwin and Savannah Snider; Colby, Kayla, and Mitchell Boyd; great grandchildren Bentley Hutto, Kaidence Goodwin, and AlyAnna Boyd as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
