Jesse Don Gilbert

Jesse Don Gilbert, 89, of Madill, Oklahoma passed from this life Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the Velma Assembly of God Church with Doug Brazzell and Reverend Travis Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Claud Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday in the Velma Assembly of God Church and the family will receive friends from 5-7 PM.

Jesse was born June 24, 1933 at Empire, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas Frank and Hattie Beatrice (Alexander) Gilbert. He and Donna Sue Buckley were married August 29, 1959 in Duncan, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death April 19, 2012. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and worked as a Systems Engineer for Raytheon in Garland, Texas until his retirement. He enjoyed doing family genealogy, skeet shooting, hunting and playing the stock market. He was a long-time member of First Assembly of God Church in Garland, Texas and in later years attended CrystalRock Cathedral in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was also preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children Paula Brazzell and husband Doug of Madill, Oklahoma; Beth Papke and husband Vince of Cedar Park, Texas; Roland Gilbert of Austin, Texas; and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Gilbert of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren Ryan Brazzell, Justin Papke, Colin Brazzell, Jarrod Papke, Rachel Brazzell, Cameron Gilbert, Caleb Gilbert and Sierra Gilbert and great grandchildren Phoebe Brazzell and Cayson Papke.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Brazzell, Justin Papke, Colin Brazzell, Jarrod Papke, Cameron Gilbert and Caleb Gilbert.
