Harley Files

Harlen "Harley" Files, 79, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Stephens County, Oklahoma.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Velma on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2 pm, with Reverend Travis Stewart officiating. Assisting will be Reverend Harold Metheny, Reverend Johnnie Gray and Reverend Steven Bishop. Interment will follow at the New Velma Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Harley was born February 3, 1943 in Walters, Oklahoma; son of Sam and Lucille (Harris) Files. He graduated from Velma High School in 1961. He and Myrna Ellis were married June 16, 1961 in the Velma Assembly of God Church in Velma, Oklahoma. He worked in the oil industry, loved OU football, working on the farm with Ricky and Todd, spending time with his family and friends, and going to Speedy G's to meet with the guys at the "Table of Knowledge". He was a faithful member of the Velma Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lucille, brother Herschel and sisters Freda, Earlene and Marie.

Survivors include his loving wife Myrna Files of Velma; sons Ricky Files and his wife Brenda of McKinney, Texas and Todd Files and his wife Melanie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren Harlen Tyler Files and wife MacKenzie, Christian Files and wife Mallory, Audrey Files, Laura Guthrie and husband Nic, and Melissa Gonzalez and husband Ozzie; great grandchildren Grayson Files, Lucille Files, Bryce Guthrie, Blare Guthrie, Justin Gonzalez, KiKi Gonzalez, Kell Gonzalez, Sophie Gonzalez and Kruz Gonzalez; sisters Margie Kennedy, Lois Mae Galaz and husband Al, Lisa Taylor and husband Wayne, and Teresa Gwaltney

Pallbearers will be Mike Adcox, H.Tyler Files, Christian Files, Alan Roberts, Scott Jett and Larry Sanner. Honorary pallbearers include the guys who sat at the "Table of Knowledge" and the members of the Velma Water Board.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude Cance Center.
