Evideen Shaw

Evideen Armbruster Shaw, 105, a long time Duncan area resident answered the Savior's call to "Come on in and recieve the home I have prepared for you." on Friday, April 24, 2015 in the Sterling house Assisted Living in Bethany, Oklahoma. Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home with interment in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home from 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday. Evideen was born January 19, 1910 at Sayre, Oklahoma the daughter of Joe and Nora Elvera (Lee) Ambruster. They lived in the Carter Community where she graduated high school in 1928. In 1938 she completed a Post Graduate Commercial Course. She worked for the Triple A Office in Sayre, Oklahoma for nine years. She and Sol A. Shaw were married at Texola, Oklahoma in October 1947 and he preceded her in death in October of 1984 and to this union one daughter was born. They moved to Duncan in 1954 and she went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. She was active in numerous business and professional clubs, She was a member of the Sayre Methodist Church until coming to Duncan where she became a member of the Stephens United Methodist Church where she served as Organist for several years. In 1970 She joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, pianist and organist. One of her greatest joys was to serve the Lord. She loved to garden and was a volunteer with the Duncan Regional Hospital for 13 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers J.A. Armbruster and Delma Armbruster, and a foster sister Alma May Survivors include her daughter NoraDeen Horgan and her husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson Timothy Horgan; two nieces Carylon Martinez of Williams, Arizona and Darlene Roberts of Duncan; two nephews Kenneth Armbruster of Las Alamos, New Mexico and Denis Armbruster of Yucca Valley, California and a dear friend Bonnie Gray.
