Charles Perry Kennedy Sr.
Charles Perry Kennedy Sr. passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home on November 14th, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born on March 8th, 1936 in Fox, Oklahoma to Roy Lynn Kennedy and Lola Trout Kennedy. He was the 7th of 12 children and one of 9 boys. He attended Fox Public Schools, playing football with the Fox Foxes and graduated in 1954. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Marjorie Ann Files of Fox, and they married on June 16, 1956. As of his passing, Perry and Marge were married 66 years and 5 months. In March of 1957, a son, Charles Perry Kennedy, Jr. was born and two years later, a daughter, Pamela, was born. Many years later, one more daughter, April, completed their family.
Perry worked several jobs including truck-driving and apprenticing for a plumber before he became a roustabout for Pan American Petroleum, later becoming Amoco Production Company. He moved up the ranks with Amoco with every location including Ulysses, Kansas, Perryton, Texas, Woodward, Oklahoma, Liberal, Kansas, and Duncan, Oklahoma. Perry loved his job and the people he worked with. He took pride in his work. He retired as a District Foreman after 29 years of dedicated service.
Perry's favorite pastime for most of his life was playing golf. He played well enough that he won several tournaments through the years. Perry enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family members anytime he could. He recently told Tim, his son-in-law, he looked forward to getting well and joining him on the golf course soon.
Perry loved God with all his heart and served faithfully in various roles in several Assembly of God churches due to their moves with Amoco. He led his family spiritually and made sure they were in church every time the doors were open. The past 5 years he and Marge attended Bethesda Church of God in Duncan, Oklahoma. He had a huge heart for missions and gave generously to support missionaries abroad as well as the local church. He finally heard the words he lived his life to hear, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
Known as a quiet man, Perry was a man of great integrity. All who had the privilege to be a family member or friend knew they could always count on him for anything needed. He loved to have fun and cherished times with his immediate and extended family. Every member of Perry's extended family and Marge's extended family held a special place in his heart. You would often hear him praying for different family members throughout the years. Perry was a friend to everyone he met, and he never let anyone in need go without if he could help. All who knew him loved him, even all of the dedicated caregivers he had this past year.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Duncan, his daughter, Pam Roberts and husband Tim, daughter, April Nguyen and husband Erik, grandchildren Zachary Roberts and wife Sidney, Jill Cardamone and husband Andrew, Cameron Kennedy, and Chandler Kennedy, great-grandchildren, Kynlee Kennedy and Owen Roberts, 4 siblings, sisters Jewell Merryman and Faye Horton and husband Carl, brothers Elmer Kennedy and wife, Geri, and Dean Kennedy and wife Sandie, sisters-in-law Cherry Kennedy and Carol Kennedy, and many more family members and friends who were all very special to him.
