Barbara Deane Shephard

Barbara Deane Shephard, 78, of Duncan passed away Saturday, August 17th, 2013 in the Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Duncan Cemetery with Deanna Chacon officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. Barbara was born November 20, 1934 at Hastings, Oklahoma the daughter of Harry and Lola (Dunford) Purvis. She and Ribble Heath Shephard were married at Lawton, Oklahoma on March 5, 1951 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2006. Barbara and Ribble were married 53 years at the time of his passing. She worked as a health care provider until her retirement in 1990, loved to crochet, do needle work, work in the garden and watch birds. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son Brian Heath Shephard. Survivors include her son Rick Shephard of Duncan; three daughters Teressa Redfield of Duncan, Leassa Heidler of Duncan and Patricia Lassiter of Duncan; a sister Carol Thomson of Duncan; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two nieces , Debbie Medlin and her husband, Wayne, from North Carolina and Cindy Vick and her husband ,Bob from Texas.
